LPS is very active in lobbying Congress for lighthouse preservation. They also produce a series of lighthouse finding guides. Membership can include a subscription to The Lighthouse Digest.

The Chesapeake Chapter is an extremely active group. It not only sponsor tours of the Chesapeake Bay Lighthouses, but also trips to nearby areas. It also has an active lighthouse restoration and preservation group. Membership includes Cheslights, a quarterly publication.
